Torontonians are blessed with a dizzying array of Neapolitan-style pizza options but, when it comes to deep-dish Chicago-style ‘za, the void is real.
Enter Double D’s, a casual East End joint with big-screen TVs blazing and RnB bumping. Distractions aside, the attention here is squarely on the hefty pizza pies, with just three menu options: Chicago, Jalapeno Blue and vegetarian Farmer’s Market (or you can create your own). Our classic Chicago was a delicious mouthful of melted cheese, sweet tomato sauce, pepperoni and Italian sausage slices and a substantial crust.
It’s true Midwest taste and charm—and we like it. —Karen Kwan
