There’s a new exhibit at the Museum of Contemporary Art that we’re practically running to see.
Pulse Room, by Mexican-born, Montreal-based Rafael Lozano-Hemmer, captures and transmits visitors’ heart rates through a computerized system and transfigures them into pulses of light in some 300 bulbs suspended from the ceiling. At any given moment the installation pulses the recordings from the most recent participant as others wait their turn to make the room light up. Think Everything is Illuminated meets The Matrix.
Innovative and interactive, the lights dim on this exhibit September 7th. —Ariella Starkman
