You may remember last year’s delicious (and super popular) YYC Burger Fest.
Well, it’s back, and this time as a provincewide affair. On until May 10th, Alberta Burger Fest gives you free licence to eat as many burgers as you want (or can) from 35 participating restaurants around Calgary and in Edmonton, southern Alberta and Banff/Canmore, in order to help crown a "best burger" winner in each of four price categories ($10, $15, $20 and $50). This year’s participants have gone all out, with creations like the Butcher’s Burger (pictured), topped with a bratwurst from WURST, and the Carnitas Burger from Craft Beer Market—roasted pork shoulder with jalapeno Havarti, bacon and chipotle slaw. Ten per cent of burger sales go to local charities.
It’s your civic duty to eat burgers this week. —Sara Samson
