Party like an Art Star

May 9, 2014

Power BallEveryone (who’s anyone) knows Toronto’s summer party season kicks off with Power Ball—an annual fundraiser 15 years strong organized by the Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery at Harbourfront Centre. This year’s event, slated for Thursday, June 5th, boasts an Old / New World theme meant to pay tribute to the time when technology switched from analogue to digital (remember that?), transforming everything from music to art, fashion and food.

BYOBParty-goers will be treated to a specially commissioned performance piece by award-winning Brit artist Naomi Kashiwagi, new work by Montreal-based rising star Jon Rafman, a multi-contributor BYOB (Bring Your Own Beamer) exhibition and a site-specific installation by NYC art duo CONFETTISYSTEM that will surely serve as the backdrop for many hip Instagramers (selfies OK, if you must). This scene won’t be lacking drama, that’s for sure.

Party for the love of art? Sign us up (and see you there). —Anya Georgijevic
