Feast & Friends Returns to DD Mau Chinatown—with The Lunch Lady in the House
Vancouver’s favourite collaborative dinner series is officially back—and it’s bringing serious flavour. After a brief hiatus, Feast & Friends returns to DD Mau Chinatown on Sunday, February 1, 2026, for an evening that celebrates creativity, camaraderie, and Vietnamese food that refuses to stay in one lane.
For Volume Three, DD Mau’s Tyler Hoang is teaming up with Benedict Lim, the chef behind Michelin Bib Gourmand–awarded The Lunch Lady, for a one-night-only menu that reimagines comfort food with playful, boundary-pushing flair.
“When two Vietnamese restaurants join forces, we want to create something unexpected,” says Kim Tran of DD Mau Chinatown. “Something that takes our creativity to the next level—and we couldn’t think of a better collaborator than Chef Ben and his team.”
The result? A multi-course tasting menu that feels both nostalgic and totally unhinged in the best way. Think oysters two ways—one with fish sauce–cured salmon roe and smoked scallion oil, the other dressed like a chả giò with lime leaf aioli. A delicate spot prawn carpaccio. A bánh xèo tostada. And mains that lean into comfort with a twist, including Bún Bò Huế lasagna (yes, really) layered with Laughing Cow béchamel, plus a Vietnamese chicken curry served pot-pie style.
Dessert doesn’t dial things down either: Vietnamese coffee sticky toffee pudding and chilled silken tofu bring the night to a sweet, satisfying close.
Behind the bar, Nomo Nomo takes over cocktail duty, with Wayne Chou and team serving up Japanese izakaya–inspired drinks designed to match the menu’s playful energy—vibrant, crushable, and perfect for lingering.
Feast & Friends is all about chefs stepping outside their usual menus and cooking for the joy of it—and the series will continue throughout 2026, with more collaborations (and a special dinner celebrating DD Mau Chinatown’s 8th anniversary in April) already in the works.
Tickets for Feast & Friends Vol. 3 are $98++ per person, with two seatings at 5:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. Cocktails are available à la carte, as always.
If you love Vietnamese food, chef collabs, and dinners that feel like a party—this one’s not to be missed. —Noa Nichol
