From Harry Potter parties to erotic arts and crafts, don’t miss these February must-do shows, concerts and festivals. —Karen Kwan
1. Trip the light fantastic at the inaugural Toronto Light Festival in the Distillery District. Proceeds benefit the Yonge Street Mission. (Photo by Thane Lucas/Toronto Light Festival)
2. (Almost) live out your Hogwarts dream at the Appreciation Society’s Harry Potter Party. Dress up as your fave character (we’d go as Draco).
3. A night at the museum is always a good idea, but specially so in the dead of winter and when it’s AGO First Thursdays. This month’s theme: Shapeshifters.
4. A little local shopping but a lot of fun (food trucks for eats and spiked punch for good spirits, too!). Winter Midnight MRKT.
5. The Drake Hotel turns 13 this year and is throwing a Coming of Age party complete with hip-hop dancers, photo booth and more to toast its teen years.
6. Put on your parka and head to the Beach for the third edition of the Winter Stations, where lifeguard stations are turned into public art installations.
7. Way more fun than simply watching hours of celeb acceptance speeches on TV at home: the Reelheart Oscar Party (with prizes for best dressed and best group selfie!).
8. Nineties RnB fans (guilty as charged) will not want to miss Jon B.
9. When we live somewhere this cold, might as well make the most of winter conditions and turn ice into art.
10. Valentine’s may fall on one day, but you can get your fill of love, romance and art for the rest of the year at the Erotic Arts and Crafts Fair.
