Sip Into The Year Of The Horse: Haywire’s Lunar Red Is Back

January 21, 2026

Holidays

Pop the cork—Lunar New Year just got a little more delicious. Haywire Winery has teamed up once again with Foo Hung Curios to release the latest vintage of Lunar Red, a limited-edition bottle created to celebrate the 2026 Lunar New Year and usher in the Year of the Horse in style.

This release marks a continuation of a trailblazing tradition. Back in 2014, Haywire became the first BC winery to honour Lunar New Year with a special wine—and they’ve been raising a glass to the occasion ever since. The 2026 vintage is a bold, Merlot-dominant blend that delivers dark plum, cassis, and a hint of cigar box spice on the nose, followed by rich notes of black cherry, cocoa, vanilla, and warm baking spice on the palate. In other words: festive, cozy, and made for sharing.

It’s also a natural match for Lunar New Year feasts—think dumplings, Peking duck, honey-glazed spare ribs, and anything else you’ll be passing around the table.

Even better? Every bottle gives back. A portion of proceeds supports the Chinatown Storytelling Centre, Vancouver’s award-winning cultural hub dedicated to preserving and celebrating the stories of Chinatown’s past, present, and future.

Good wine, good food, and a good cause—now that’s something worth toasting to. —Noa Nichol
