Montreal got a shoutout at the Oscars from sound editing winner Sylvain Bellemare (salut, Sylvain!), but that wasn’t the only Quebec connection at this year’s awards show.
Inside the notoriously luxe nominee swag bags was a modest offering from Beloeil brand Bangarang: the Positive Cube ($32, with $2 from every purchase going to Save the Children). The handcrafted wooden box comes stocked with 199 inspirational quotes and actions that are said to help “awaken your inner superhero child.”
And, while uplifting quotes posted to social media tend to illicit an eyeroll reaction, there’s something charming about grabbing a card for a quick pick-me-up—especially when we know that, somewhere, Emma Stone might be doing the exact same thing. —Christine Laroche
