SHAKEN NOT STIRRED

August 2, 2008

Tired of white wine spritzers? When the temperatures soar, we suggest
you broaden your cocktail horizons with something a little different: Pineau
des Charentes
is a sweet, fortified French wine that definitely
knows its way around a cocktail shaker.

Île de Ré
2 ounces Pineau des Charentes
1
ounces blood orange juice (or tangerine juice)
Handful of mint leaves
Ice
Club
soda (optional)

Place the mint leaves in a bottom of a shaker and crush them with the
back of a spoon.
Add the Pineau des Charentes.
Add the blood
orange juice and ice.
Cover and shake vigorously!
Pour entire
contents into a Collins glass and top with club soda, if desired.
Garnish
with a sprig of mint leaves and a wedge of orange.

Santé!
