A Wise Blue Owl

March 16, 2011

Once upon a time, in the 1940s, there was a drive-in diner on Second and
Burrard called the Blue Owl.

Its owner, John, also owned a big building on Broadway and Vine. Fifty
something years later, Johns granddaughter, Amanda, took over a space in
his building, and opened a home boutique using the family name, Blue Owl.

Retro trinkets, family heritage pieces, European antiques, and very
cute, irresistible one-of-a-kind collectables fill the shelves of this
lovely little store. We left with some bird-shaped candles, blue of
course ($6), a Swiss Officer wool blanket ($78) and are contemplating
returning for the little bronze horse ($28). If you don’t get there
first. ASI
