Gelato, Not on College

July 15, 2011

West-enders, your summer is made. No longer must you brave the maddening
crowds of College Street just to get a single crystalline scoop of lemon
gelato.

Instead, this: the Boreal
Gelato Company
, now with an airy storefront in Parkdale, does
artisanal, as-local-as-possible Italian ice cream. There are eight
flavours, four fruity and four milk-based, with a little variance
depending on what’s in season. Winningest combo? Sweet, just-ripe
pineapple with silky coconut.

Get yours in an eco-container to go and sit on a quiet bench outside,
revelling in the lack of, well, other revellers. Sarah Nicole Prickett
