Isabel, My Belle

September 20, 2013

Theres nothing quite being transported to another place and time through
food. Bar Isabels mismatched
floor tiles and stained glass windows could as well say: Welcome to the
Old World.

Of course, its Spanish-rooted hearty cooking just reinforces the
experience. Start with Devilled Duck Eggs ($6), served with salt cod
brandade to open up our appetite. While still working through the small
plates menu, make sure you order one of the many ingenious cocktails. We
recommend Isabels take on the Old Fashioned ($15), with an addition of
chocolate mole (bet youve never tried this combo before!). Try the
Chorizo Verde & Octopus Skewers ($9) and Jamon Iberico ($8) served with
bread. If your appetite is still calling, order the Maple Glazed Smoked
Cod Collars and Marcona Almonds ($18), and dont you dare skip on the
Grilled Octopus (34/half, 59/whole). Oh yes, theres wine and cheese, as
well.
