Lunch with Lauren Bush

October 3, 2013

This week, Lauren Bush came to Vancouver for the Canadian launch of FEED x Links, a collaboration between her FEED Foundation and Links of London jewellery, available exclusively at Holt Renfrew.

As a little girl, Bush would while away the summer days at her famous familys Maine compound by designing glass-bead bracelets and selling them at local craft fairs. Her latest project has brought the 29-year-old former Vogue cover girl and hunger activist full circle.

Bush has designed a collection of seven friendship bracelets with gold or sterling silver toggles which represent the impact of their sale. FEED x Links gives 10 percent of proceeds to the United Nations World Food Programme so that every Silver Waterdrop ($150) represents 500 days of clean drinking water for one child. The Gold Heart equals 250 meals for children in areas with high rates of HIV/AIDS. And our favourite, the whimsical Silver Peanut ($150), will give three severely malnourished children meals of lifesaving Plumpy Nut paste.

Since starting with a simple collapsible shopping bag in 2005, FEED Projects and the FEED Foundation have raised over $6 million and fed over 60 million school children. And, unlike most CEOs, Bush is looking forward to the day her company disappears because that will be the day there’s no more hunger to fight in the world.

Until then, why not look good and feel even better?

FEED x Links bracelets are available exclusively at Holt Renfrew from $125 a piece, www.holtrenfrew.com
