Life of Pie

February 14, 2014

lifeof pieHomemade pie is the culinary equivalent of a blanket or a hug. And these days, we could all use an extra one of those.

The faux chicken pot pie at new vegan bakery, Apiecalypse is like a hug from your bestie – honest, warm and full of goodness. Even without butter, the pastry still melts in the mouth. Other goodies on offer include spicy vegan sausage rolls, ‘compassion flakies’ (a flaky crust stuffed with strawberries and coconut milk cream whipped icing), cookie sandwiches, croissants and plenty of take-home butters and spreads (cinnamon butter, vegan ricotta and more).

For owner and chef Jennifer Bundock, veganism is a philosophy of life. You’ve got to taste it to believe it. —Athena Tsavliris
