Nestled inside the guts of the city in a tiny retail space in the Central Station concourse below Jasper Avenue and 100 Street, Burrow is Edmonton’s first underground café (with close to 20,000 transit riders slugging through the station to and from the daily grind, a coffee slinger only makes sense).
The cell reception may be spotty, but the service stellar. Our visit to this sub-ground java bar had us sippin’ a smooth cup of drip Four Barrel Coffee ($3) whilst chowing down on fresh egg sandwich with fried egg, bacon, spinach and aioli ($7, and we ate it so fast it ended up all over our shirts). Our taste buds are already anticipating the roasted beet salad, gooey grilled cheese and array of baked goods.
Wake up that train brain. —Janis Galloway
