New Eats: Borealia

A new restaurant on the hip Ossington strip takes on authentic Canadian cuisine—and no, poutine isn’t on the menu.

Borealia, which gets its name from the Latin “borealis,” meaning “northern,” serves up dishes inspired by what Canada’s First Nations, early settlers and first immigrant groups ate—think éclade, braised whelk, caramelized onion and potato pierogis and devilled Chinese tea eggs. Owners (and hubby-wife duo) Wayne Morris and Evelyn Wu have built a historic menu that will give you a good sense of early Canadian fare … with modern flair.
