Retail therapy. That’s usually our singular goal when we visit Square One Shopping Centre. But there’s another great reason to visit the mall these days.
A 40-foot-tall stainless-steel chandelier, "Lambent," constitutes the new public art installation suspended from the food court’s domed ceiling. If you’re able to visit at night, the enitre thing is illuminated by 3,000 LED lights that run on a random series of nine programs, transforming it into a mesmerizing rainbow of lights. Designed by Daniel Young and Christian Giroux, the piece takes your common dining-room lighting fixture and elevates it, big time.
Retail therapy with a side of art—we can get under that. —Karen Kwan
