We rarely think of breakfast as a time to indulge, but a recent visit to Ma’tine changed our minds.
Opened just last summer, Ma’tine offers breakfast, brunch and lunch from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. The regularly changing menu boasts challenging flavour combos, such as buttery brioche with smoked pork loin, grilled melon and savoury arugula ricotta or a thick slice of honey maple ham atop a cumin-scented parsnip cake topped with a poached egg and swimming in a creamy boudin sauce. Way too full to explore the eye-popping pastry counter, we’d be lying if we didn’t admit to buying a canele for the road.
Breakfast, after all, is the most important meal of the day. —Jennifer Nachshen
