When we hear the phrase “gluten-free, vegan doughnut,” our minds don’t necessarily jump to a tasty conclusion.
We’re happy to say, however, that the geniuses behind Moonshine Doughnuts have proven us wrong. Edmonton bakers (and besties) Matthew and Simon have been turning out their small-batch, hand-dipped creations to a wildly growing fan base since 2012, in flavours like orange, pistachio, cardamom and key lime coconut (non-gluten free options are available, too). The variety changes weekly and according to seasonal produce, meaning a constant state of taste-bud delight. Pick up these delectable circles of joy Saturdays at the City Market on 104th Street and Thursday nights at the 124th Street market.
