We Eat Nākd

August 20, 2015

1On a recent car, canoe and camping trip, we came to respect and revere the Eat Nākd raw snack bar, which saved our dignity on countless occasions when the sole edible alternatives were jerky or Nutella.

Here’s the gist: we don’t keep bars on us because they’re usually full of nonsense, making it onto every listicle about sneaky sugar-filled "health" food out there. (Our intern once pointed out our ‘protein’ bar contained an entire daily sugar serving  the horror). These British bars have subverted our skepticism. Made entirely of fruit and nuts smooshed together, they’re approximately 160 calories of moist, chewy, sweet, predominantly date-and-cashew mix (wheat, gluten and dairy-free, of course). Flavours are killer, think Cashew Cookie, Cocoa Delight and (our favourite) Strawberry Crisp. Newly available in BC, they’re the wholesome/tasty snack we’ve been waiting for.

That’s the Nākd truth. —Adrienne Matei
