The number 1 name in blenders could very well be Vitamix, but this mixer’s virtues definitely bear repeating. Below, we’ve restrained ourselves (big time) and limited our list to the very top five reasons we couldn’t live without our Vitamix 7500:
good looks: Black or red, the choice is yours (and ours) when it comes to colour. (As it happens, black works best in our stainless-steel and dark-grain kitchen. We call it the perfect blend of style and substance.)
power trip: Whereas other mixers may struggle with, say, frozen fruit or veg, the Vitamix 7500 chops through even the deepest freeze in no time flat—and in a much less noisy manner (critical for mornings when the rest of the fam is asleep, but a kale-and-berry hit can’t wait).
texture tech: The problem of coming up chunky when we’re looking for creamy is a thing of the past. The Vitamix 7500 features 10—count ’em—variable speeds that let us refine every texture with culinary precision, from the smoothest purées to the heartiest soups (read: no more chewing our morning smoothie).
perfect fit: In kitchens like ours that suffer from low-slung cabinetry, tall appliances can be an issue. Luckily, the Vitamix 7500 boasts a low-profile (yet still two-litres roomy) container, meaning it fits snugly on our countertop beneath our cabinets, despite the somewhat limited head room.
easy clean: We’re not sure we’ve ever experienced a blender that’s easier to scrub up than this Vitamix. Simply add a drop of dish soap, a splash of warm water, run on high for 30 seconds—et voila! A clean machine.
No wonder this blender’s earned a permanent place in our kitchen—and our hearts. —Noa Nichol
