Diary of a Scotiabank Amex Jetsetter: NYC Edition

January 21, 2016

A last-minute opportunity to fly to New York City for the night came up (I know, #lovemyjob) so I grabbed my carry on, jumped on a flight and headed to my cozy room at the Ace Hotel.

Unpacking, I realized I really do have an affinity for all things gold, especially when I travel! My Scotiabank Gold American Express Card has comprehensive travel insurances, so no need to worry on last-minute trips like this.

I got my morning off to a great start with a Stumptown coffee and a charcoal lemonade, then it was off to my press conference at 8 a.m.

Just a tiny bit of time left for lunch before heading back to the airport in a huge rainstorm. The upside to being stuck in Manhattan traffic is having a little extra time to scroll through the menu on my way to Via Carota in the West Village.

The new restaurant from the pair behind Buvette in Paris and New York was sublime. The only thing better than the shaved porcini mushrooms with Parmesan and blueberries was earning 4x the points for dining! Look out for Demi Moore—she’s been spotted here before.

My next two trips are a hop, skip and jump to San Francisco for a night, and then Palm Springs. Thank goodness booking trips on the Scotiabank Gold American Express Card is so easy (you can pay part points, part cash and there are no blackouts or seat restrictions like other plans).

See you back here next month! —Sarah Bancroft
