With 156 wineries from 14 countries and 55 events, dinners and seminars, the Vancouver International Wine Festival is one of the world’s greatest wine events. Here, BC Liquor Distribution Branch Buyer and wine personality David Scholefield shares his tips for making the most of your time on the floor:
Viva Italia!
In Italy, all things start with Prosecco. Who are we to argue with this year’s theme country? Begin with a bracing glass from Mionetto or Villa Teresa in the ITALIA! section and take it from there, remembering of course that it’s also highly civilized to take a Prosecco break from time to time throughout the evening … Big guns from Italy must include Tuscan greats Antinori, Frescobaldi, and Ricasoli; Masi from Veneto; and Pio Cesare and Vietti from Piemonte. Further explorations should take you to Argiano, Braida, Bibi Graetz, Rocca della Macie, and Tenuta Sette Ponti.
