Please tell us a bit about yourself and your company.

For 2,000 years the thermal waters of Hungary have been renowned for their medicinal and health benefits. Visiting thermal baths and "taking the waters" is not a luxury, but an integral part of everyday life in Hungary even to this day. In the 1800s, my husband Stephen’s family built the Rácz Thermal Bath on the site of a medieval healing spring in Budapest. I was fascinated by the transformative effects the mineral-spa waters had on my skin and we saw the potential to harness these benefits into an innovative skin-care range. In 2006 Omorovicza was born.

Can you speak more to the science behind these healing waters?

Hungary’s mineral-rich thermal waters have been prized for centuries. Here the earth’s crust is thinner, so waters gather more beneficial minerals as they journey to the surface. There are upwards of 20 minerals and trace elements within these waters, including calcium, magnesium, manganese, potassium, copper and zinc. We collect the water from one source in Budapest and treat it in a lengthy bio-fermentation process, enabling the transformation of minerals from awkward molecules into complex compounds that can then absorb into the epidermis. Our patented mineral-delivery system, Hydro Mineral Transference, combines these complex compounds with the mineral-rich water itself in all products.

What products from the line do you use religiously?

I am always alternating between products, however I couldn’t live without the Queen of Hungary Mist, Miracle Facial Oil, Cleansing Foam and Rejuvenating Night Cream.

Omorovicza is launching two new products: a Firming Neck Cream and Moor Cream Cleanser. What makes these special and what benefits can users expect to see?

The triple-action Firming Neck Cream nourishes and hydrates deeply, plumps and tightens skin, and lifts and firms the delicate neck and décolleté area. The elasticity and firmness of the skin improve, the jawline appears more sharply defined and fine lines and wrinkles vanish. The Moor Cream Cleanser is a classic cream cleanser with a twist. Moor mud lends it a purifying and detoxifying quality while an aroma-therapeutic blend of essential oils adds an antiseptic and anti-microbial property. Zinc oxide soothes the skin and regulates the production of sebum.

We’ve had a particularly harsh winter in Canada this year, with unusual amounts of snow and plenty of dry, cold air. This has wreaked havoc on our skin. Any advice?

> Refine: Exfoliating is one of the easiest and quickest things you can do to improve a dull complexion. It gets rid of dead skin cells that accumulate on the skin’s surface to give your skin a healthy glow.
> Nourish and hydrate: Colder temperatures can take their toll on your skin, so it is essential you moisturise regularly. Our Gold Rescue Cream a lifesaver in dry, cold weather. This intensely nourishing cream is powered by a potent thermal water-in-oil barrier formulation leaving the most dehydrated of complexions revitalized and rejuvenated.
> Use an oil-based cleanser like a cleansing balm; the oil helps regulate the moisture in your skin, which can be quite tricky to do in the transitional seasons. I also love oil-based cleansers for improving tone and texture and, because oil dissolves oil, these are even great for those with combination skin.
