Looking to grab a pint and a bite and stay for a few? Liberty Commons is a new option in the west end.
This Liberty Village joint is a collab between Big Rock Brewery and Oliver & Bonacini. More stylish than your typical pub—crisp tiling on the bar, industrial lighting creating a warm and modern feel, but with plenty of big-screen TVs so you can keep up on the score—there are cosy booths and high-top tables at which to enjoy your grub. The bar boasts eight taps (featuring eight of Big Rock’s signature, seasonal and experimental beers) and some fun beer-based cocktails. As for what to eat, the fare ranges from BBQ (we bet on the brisket and scored well) to big salads and, of course, pub fare, such as a cottage pie (add bone marrow, trust us) and a bountiful plate of fish and chips (with the haddock coated in a pilsner batter, from Big Rock, natch).
Put this at the top of your list of places for relaxed good-time hangs. —Karen Kwan
