1. Eat, drink and be merry at the Calgary International Beer Fest, which features some 500 beers from more than 100 breweries, plus cooking demos and brew master seminars.
2. Art Commons and Olympic Plaza play host to the Calgary International Children’s Festival, a kid-focused fest celebrating theatre and art, with free outdoor performance, interactive exhibits and more.
3. For the runners among us, or the cheering squad, the Calgary Marathon is back later this month.
4. Blend your love of food and the mountains at Canmore Uncorked, an 11-day festival featuring progressive dinner tours and prixe fixe menus at the town’s best restaurants.
5. Don your Sunday finest and watch horses and riders take to the field for the Spruce Meadows May Classic.
6. Celebrate the start of the CFL season at Calgary Stampeders Fanfest at McMahon Stadium. This free event includes a pancake breakfast and a chance to chat with coaches and players.
7. After its successful first year The Market on Stephen Ave. is back this month, bringing you fresh fruit and produce, baked goods and artisan goods every Tuesday.
8. Experience the new yoga craze, which blends yoga with hip-hop music, at a Yeezy Yoga class at Jamesons 17th Ave.
9. At the YYC Taco Fiesta, now in its second year, eat all the tacos you can for 10 days at participating restaurants, including Blanco Cantina, Blue Star Diner and Trolley 5.
10. Fitness buffs, or those looking for a new exercise, will want to check out YYCfit Health and Fitness Expo, featuring more than 100 vendors showcasing everything from fitness trends to gear and clothing.
