How does it feel to be chosen to represent Addition Elle?
I was really surprised and overjoyed! I’m truly honoured as there were many beautiful girls that participated in this contest.
You must be excited to walk in New York Fashion Week—what does it mean to you to be part of the show?
Yes, I’m so excited but also nervous because I’ve never walked in a show before. It’s a huge opportunity and I can’t wait to meet the role models that inspire me in the industry.
Do you think the modelling industry is becoming more inclusive of all body types?
Yes, I think that the industry is starting to accept all the body types but there’s still lots of work left and room for more change.
Have you faced challenges as a plus-size model?
Of course, however, I’ve worked really hard to build my self-confidence and to be comfortable in the skin I’m in. I’m very proud of myself for that. I’ve faced every obstacle with positivity. I always focus on the positives in my life. Any time I’m going through a tough patch, I think of everything that I have and how grateful I am.
What changes do you hope to see come to the fashion world in the future?
I hope that one day the world will change its views on what a perfect model should be. All women are beautiful in all colours, shapes and sizes.
Who has been your biggest inspiration to pursue modelling?
I am inspired by many. There’s Cara delevingne, Naomi Campbell, Kate Moss, Ashley Graham and many more.
Tell us about your personal style—where do you take inspiration from?
I really like streetwear mixed with classic pieces. I like to draw inspiration from different people and their styles.
What would you say to other young women about breaking into the industry?
I’m still learning but I’d say to keep persevering. Even though there may seem to be a lot of hurdles, there are even more rewarding moments and wins. In this industry, you need to have a strong character but always be proud of yourself and your body.
