sustainable soles. The newest Vancouver footwear brand to the scene (though after a thorough two-year design process), SKYE Footwear easily tops our list. The form-fitting microfiber Rbutus shoe ($129) has a super-cushiony feel because of a built-in deep gel insole. It fits so snug that even flat-footed fashionistas can do without the orthotic. Did we mention, its insole and outsole are completely biodegradable? skyefootwear.com
footwear for the people. People Footwear’s latest release will not only have you asking, “Where’s Waldo?” but more like “Where can I buy The Waldos?” The reinforced canvas Waldos ($85) feature a memory foam footbed and two rows of laces—just enough to show off some athleticism. You’ll want to go fast in these, but walk, don’t run. peoplefootwear.com
luxe leather. Launched in early 2017, Six Hundred Four is Gastown’s new darling shoe company, partnering up with artists to digitally print artwork primarily on leather. The Cambie Lo ($199) by Patrick James Bravo has a tumbled leather lining and a geometric glow-in-the-dark screen print! And, of course, each artist’s designs only comes in 604 pairs with 6.04 per cent of each sale going to a cause of the artist’s choice. sixhundredfour.com
