Our team got a behind-the-papered-windows peek at the new Marc Cain store, set to open this week at Vancouver’s Oakridge Centre—and to say we were impressed does not do our reaction justice.
First, the space is beyond beautiful. Showstopping, really. White and cream and grey, sleek and glam and plush, roomy yet somehow packed with all-season, all-reason pieces we found ourselves drooling over (no joke). The quality of these clothes, the attention to detail, the one-of-a-kind prints, the ingenious, thoughtful features—Marc Cain, without a doubt, makes so-called "slow-fashion" garments that will hold a treasured place in one’s wardrobe forever (and they really need to be seen in person to be believed). Topping our shopping wish list: a nod-to-the-1950s full and gauzy polka-dot skirt; a perfectly adorable mixed-material blouse with a beaded-swallow-detailed collar (and ruffles!); and a drop-dead-gorgeous calf-length wrap coat (the kind you’ll never regret purchasing).
We’ll be at the grand opening, Friday, July 7, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., and we’ll definitely be bringing our charge cards. —Noa Nichol
