The Google Pixel 2 is here and it’s better than ever. But don’t take just anyone’s word—we’ve asked three top Canadian digital trendsetters to share what they love most about the Pixel 2, and between the exclamation marks and glowing adjectives, it’s safe to say that it’s a big hit. stephanie kalen: chic sophistic. Pursuing a career full-time in the social space as the face of the Chic Sophistic brand has been the best choice I have ever made. But it also comes with being extremely busy, running around from meeting-to-meeting, attending several events, hosting, posting, and trying to squeeze some regular ‘human-like’ things in there—like eating and sleeping ; )
After teaming with TELUS and having the chance to experience the Google Pixel 2 phone, I was immediately obsessed! Not only is it super chic and goes with all my outfits (bonus!), but it also truly allows me to do everything that I need to do (and more!) to keep up in this extremely fast-paced social space. I have recently made friends with one of my favourite features of this device—the Google Assistant. She literally is there to help me every step of the way—whether I’m looking for the closest coffee shop for a quick meet, need to know what jacket to wear before I head out the door, and even how to craft up the best pink cocktail for an upcoming soiree with the girls!
I also can’t get over how amazing the camera is on this phone; it’s as if I have a have a whole lighting crew with me at all times! Makes sharing my Insta-stories and Snapchatting so much fun and keeps things looking super professional—a total breeze!
lydiane st-onge: autour du monde. There are so many things to love about the Google Pixel 2. First, the camera takes amazing pictures—clear and filled with a beautiful light because of its wide angle. Actually, it is by far the best phone camera I ever had the chance to work with.
I also love that this phone is water-resistant. As a travel blogger I need to have my phone with me at all times and we all know that when it comes to travel we can’t always prevent some water situations from happening. I’ve been known to drop a camera into a pool and another I accidentally “cleaned” in my washing machine. I’m done buying a new phone just because of a little water.
One more thing: I’m running a lot at home and especially when I’m travelling. It’s a cheap and easy way to stay active anywhere you are on the earth. But I can’t run without my phone—it’s my GPS, my motivation in my ears and my coach telling me if I’m running faster than before. The Google Pixel 2 is super light and tiny, without sacrificing the screen space. The best thing overall? It fits perfectly in all the pockets of my training clothes—even the smallest one!

With 12 megapixels and an f/1.8 lens, the camera on the Google Pixel 2 allows you to capture clear and detailed photos in just about any condition (bright or low-light)—but it’s the new Portrait Mode that will really blow you away. With proper lighting and framing, the Pixel 2 is able to effectively blur out the background of a photo to give the illusion of the kind of depth that you would normally only be able to achieve with a much more expensive camera and lens. It’s really easy to use: after enabling Portrait Mode, you just tap on your subject to focus and it’ll process the photo in a matter of seconds. It’s great for putting emphasis on your subject and you won’t believe that the results came from a smartphone. It’s a gamechanger!
