The verdict is in: glowing, clear skin starts in the kitchen! However, with tastiness still a priority, it’s important to have the experts on side when implementing diet changes. Lucky for us, celeb chef and host of Top Chef Canada Eden Grinshpan is dishing on skin-loving fare, busy mama meal ideas and her hopes for this season of TCC. Enjoy! —Rachel Johnston
Hi Eden! We’re so excited for another round of Top Chef Canada! What are you most looking forward to this time around?
I’m so excited for these chefs to have their moment. The talent this season is next level and they are dying to showcase what they’ve got.
Let’s talk skin-loving foods! What are your faves and how will they make a difference?
Avocado obviously comes first to mind. It is a gift from the earth. It’s so rich, creamy and great for your skin and hair. Pumpkin seeds are delish, and are also very good for you, especially keeping your hair thick and silky. Of course, blueberries are one of my fave skin-loving foods as they’re super high in antioxidants.
And when it comes to problematic skin, which foods should we avoid?
Cheese, dairy and alcohol. I know it sucks, but when you have too much sugar or dairy it really shows on your face.
We love following your travels! What have you learned from other cultures when it comes to consuming beauty-benefiting eats?
When I travelled in India, they always emphasized how spices have health benefits. Add ginger and turmeric where you can (anti-inflammatory), garlic (antifungal), and cinnamon stabilizes your sugar levels … there are so many benefits!
As a busy mama, what are some of your go-to quick and healthy meals?
I love having a tonne of roasted veg in the fridge and topping them with a smooth garlicky tahini. Definitely my go-to! Also, I always have a bowl full of fresh veg to assemble big salads!
