There’s a new wine, beer and food event in Calgary this year that you aren’t going to want to miss! If you haven’t heard about (the very fast-approaching) Top Drop Calgary, you’ll want to mark your calendar for a night of astonishing sensory overload now!
Hosted at Rodney’s Oyster House on Tuesday, May 15th, 2018, Top Drop Calgary is a unique tasting event, bringing together international, terroir-focused wineries, local craft breweries, gastronomy (some of Calgary’s best restaurants!) and the people behind them. More than two dozen wineries and their principles will be participating, including Blackbird Vineyards (Napa Valley, California), Compañía Bodeguera de Valenciso (Rioja, Spain), Domaine Gerard Tremblay (Chablis, France), St. Innocent (Willamette Valley, Oregon) and Azienda Agricola Azelia di Luigi Scavino (Barolo, Italy). Best of all, Calgary’s very own Brad Royale, wine director for Canadian Rocky Mountain Resorts, will be showcasing his renowned wines from Kitten Swish and, beyond the wine, you’ll be able to sip on local craft beer from Albeerta Provisions, Big Rock Brewery and Tool Shed Brewing Co. Hungry? Satiate yourself with tasty bites from some of the city’s best, such as Calcutta Cricket Club, Donna Mac, Peasant Cheese, Rodney’s Oysters House and more!
Tickets are $75, and fundraising from the event will go to help grow the Mealshare program, which will in turn help provide meals for youth and children in need. See you there, Calgary! —Laura Starr
