Have Fun and Keep Your Kids Safe With Swimming Lessons

June 1, 2018

Water safety, new skills and fun and games are top of the agenda at any swim class across the country. Not only has the nation voted swimming as one of its favourite sports, but more than one million enrol in the Red Cross swimming programs each year, which is great news as swimming boosts multiple health benefits and water games and activities can keep kids occupied for hours. So, if you haven’t already enrolled your child in professional lessons, here’s what you’re missing out on:

swimming

fun and games. Water safety is taught in fun and frivolous ways, which most parents wouldn’t even think of doing with their child. At least one lesson will focus on swimming while weighed down and often the instructor will request kids come to the pool with their pajamas to do this. Just imagine how excited your child will feel about the prospect of hitting the pool in their nightwear, so much so that they won’t even realize they’re picking up valuable life-saving skills at the same time.

valuable experience. Realistically, you’re unlikely to take the kids to the pool once or twice a week, which is what they need in order to increase their skills and confidence in the water. By signing up for regular lessons, you’ll have made a commitment to the instructor as well as a financial one, which will encourage you to drop the kids off week after week. The experience they’ll gain from being in the water with a professional instructor by their side will set them up for life and teach them ultimate safety tips that they can rely on in an emergency.

a healthier child. Swimming is a great form of cardiovascular fitness which improves children’s strength and flexibility. According to Public Health Corps, swimming also promotes better heart and lung health in kids and is an easier form of exercise for those who are overweight, obese or have asthma. When you’re in the water with the kids, they’ll be focused on having fun family time, which is great and benefits their relationships and social skills, however, during swimming lessons, all their attention will be on swimming as many laps as possible in order to hit their next achievement certificate. By doing this, your child will be getting fitter and stronger, which will aid them whenever they’re in the pool.

Enrolling your kids in professional swimming lessons is the best way to help them gain the skills and knowledge they require to stay safe in the pool. In addition to this, they’ll have fun with some unique games, pick up valuable experience and, as a result, will be healthier and happier. —Jenny Holt
