If you’re in the city this month, be sure to check out such unique events as Hipster Birding on August 22nd, during which cool cats from across Vancouver are invited to join a walking tour around Lost Lagoon where they will be offered tips on identifying and interesting facts about our local species. The tour also includes a mini scavenger hunt-style competition. Also on tap: a Night Owls tour, which will bring bird-loving Vancouverites into Stanley Park for an evening of camping and owl spotting.

Seems that bird really is the word! —Noa Nichol
