Hi Jen! Tell us a little bit about you and what do you do!?

I work at a furniture company called Article by day and write on my blog by night. I’m currently on mat leave and raising my son, who was born in September last year.

How do you use your platform to impact other moms—and parents—who follow you?

Honestly, I’m slowly figuring this whole parenting thing as I go and often feel like I’m struggling to keep my head above water … so I feel like I learn more from the moms in my audience than what they might get from me. That being said, I do hope to share an honest and imperfect perspective so another mom or parent might feel a sense of solidarity or support through my words.

What’s your personal style/beauty mantra?

I like to keep things pretty simple and classic, and always want to feel like myself in whatever I’m wearing.

What would the Mother’s Day of your fantasies be? And what, in reality, does Mother’s Day usually look like at your house?

The Mother’s Day of my dreams would involve sleeping in, brunch with my husband and son, a good walk with a matcha latte in hand and a long afternoon nap followed by a simple dinner at home. It’ll be my first Mother’s Day this year and I think it could actually look a lot like the fantasy—but probably without the sleep!

Did motherhood come easy to you, or were there challenges (if so, any in particular you’d like to share)?

Motherhood definitely didn’t come easy to me. The transition was bigger than I could’ve imagined and having to think of someone else first all the time continues to be a big challenge to me. As someone who really values my alone time, it’s been tough at times to have another human need me constantly. That being said, I know it’ll fly by and I’ll miss this stage when it’s gone!

The hardest thing about being a mom? The best thing?

To me, having someone need me and want to be with me so much is simultaneously the hardest thing and best thing about being a mom.
