Hi Randa! Tell us a little bit about you and what do you do!

I am Vancouver born and raised with the entrepreneurial spirit that runs in my veins! I grew up with an entrepreneur for a father, mother and brother so it was my destiny to be doing what I am today. I am the creative director and CEO of CIEL Creative Marketing. CIEL is a Vancouver-based boutique marketing agency that aims to fuel empowerment and education in business owners that trickles down in their customers. We’re passionate about brands and sustainability! I am also the CEO and co-founder of Archive, Canada’s largest consignment pop-up shop for men, women and children. We aim to promote a circular economy in our city by diverting apparel from the landfills. I am also the social media instructor at John Casablancas Institute and run a 10-year self-titled lifestyle blog where I highlight fashion, beauty, travel and much more with a sustainable twist!

How do you use your platform to impact those who follow you?

In my opinion, open discussion leads to change and that is exactly what I take the time to do through my channels. By striking up conversations about being aware of our sustainable choices and offering solutions, I can assist someone in coming to terms with their own decisions as a conscious consumer. Users are inundated on a daily basis and I hope that they can come to my platforms to feel empowered, appreciated and educated. I don’t only discuss sustainability but female empowerment, self-esteem and self-worth and any trending topic that we face today.

What’s your personal style/beauty mantra?

The more simple and sustainable, the better—and only purchase it if you can receive longevity from it even after you let it go.

Sustainability: it’s the world mantra now (or at least, should be). How, in your opinion, does it apply to things like fashion and beauty, and what are some super simple things each of us can do to make our daily lives (and lifestyles) more earth-friendly?

I love this question! The number 1 thing we can all do is ASK the questions! As consumers, we don’t ask enough questions that can lead to better decisions. Who made this? Where was this made? What happens to it when I’m done? What is this material or ingredient made of? Can I find this locally? Once you’ve done that, look to see where in your life can you make shifts from choosing nothing over paper and paper over plastic, reusing containers, cooking more plant-based options and purchasing for longevity instead of trend or occasion. Purchasing pre-loved clothing is one of my favourite things to do!
