Feeling weird about the holidays? Have we got a market for you!
Having captured the imaginations of even the most jaded gift shoppers, the Weirdos Holiday Market returns for its third edition—bigger, better and more bizarre than ever! Curated by Rachel Zottenberg, owner of Betamax Gallery and popular local oddities shop This Monkey’s Gone to Heaven, the market, December 14th and 15th at Vancouver’s Holy Trinity Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral , features a wonderfully peculiar mix of artisan products geared to shoppers looking for gifts that are decidedly left-of-centre. Among this year’s finds: deconstructed plastic dolls and wacky planters for a variety of succulents and cacti by Ultraviolet Oddities; beautiful, educational and strange jewelry created from real forest-foraged fungi by Mush Appreciated; Ukrainian Easter eggs made by the Vancouver-based tattoo artist and crafter Lydia K: Pysanky; mystical multi-medium altar pieces, décor and jewelry featuring gemstones and minerals by Sugarfayce; and artisan soaps inspired by infamous villains by Wicked Bath and Body Products. Hungry? The team from Rumpus Room restaurant will roll out a hot-dog buffet like no other with a crazy toppings bar including pretzels, chips, banana peppers, fried jalapenos and more.
It’s truly the most weird-erful time of the year! —Vita Daily
