Here is a bold offering from Alberta Premium. This rye whisky packs a punch at 65.1 per cent A.B.V. The nose has a pleasant banana bread smell—that is, if you breathe it in slow enough to avoid the sting of alcohol.
The taste is spicy, sweet and, OMG, there is so much alcohol in this whisky! We recommend very small sips if you are going to drink this straight. We detected strong and delicious notes of cherry and caramel, but the bite and heat from the alcohol can be distracting.
We applaud Alberta Premium for delivering, once again, a very high-quality product at a very reasonable price (around $65). Do we recommend this product? Absolutely. Do we recommend it to everyone? Absolutely not. —Guillaume Garih
