With experts now recommending we all wear cloth masks in public (respecting social-distancing protocol, of course), coupled with the fact many of us have some extra time on our hands, why not make your own mask at home?
Blanche Macdonald fashion design senior instructor Sara Armstrong is sharing her pattern for a custom face mask using fabric you have at home and a replaceable coffee filter for an additional layer protection. While these aren’t the surgical and N95 masks that provide the highest barrier of protection for frontline workers, they are something we can wear to slow the spread COVID-19 (freeing up the real-deal masks for the people who need them most). Bonus: they take less than 10 minutes to make, and they can be as stylish as the material you use!
