Mother’s Day is May 9, so hop online or place a call today—time’s a-tickin’, your mom deserves to be spoiled completely rotten and you have pastries, sweets and cocktails to order. Here’s where to get what in Vancouver. —Catherine Dunwoody
Choose bake-at-home croissants ($14 four-pack) or cinnamon scrolls ($17 four-pack) from The Bench Bakehouse so mom can have fresh-out-of-the-oven, warm pastries with coffee to start her day. Or grab a mini passion fruit cake ($10) to bring over around teatime.
A pretty new lineup from Beaucoup Bakery called the Mother of Pearl Collection includes an orange raspberry passionfruit tart, a pistachio strawberry madeleine gift box, an Ispahan parfait or mother of pearl chocolate bon bonbons.
Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea ($39 per person) from Savoury City includes a selection of both savoury and sweet goodies, like dainty finger sandwiches, lemon curd tartlets, mini eclairs, opera cake and more.
From The Graze Company, the Mother’s Day Brunch Graze Box ($195) feeds between two and four people and includes Belgian waffles, mini croissants, banana bread, yogurt parfaits, honeycomb, fresh fruit and savoury additions, plus a bottle of prosecco and freshly squeezed OJ.
Here’s something different: Odd Society Spirits’In Bloom Cocktail Kit ($36). Be mom’s in-house bartender, mixing up fancy drinks with Wallflower Gin, Orange Rose Syrup, lemon, soda and dried rose petals.
Mom’s sweet tooth will be satisfied with Maple Pecan Baked French Toast ($85) from Truffles Fine Foods, made on brioche with vanilla and candied pecans. The kit comes with fresh fruit salad and maple bacon or herb roasted tomatoes. Add on a mimosa kit or flowers for additional charge.
