Not All Boxed Wines Are Created Equal (Win!)

June 7, 2021

Major wine fans would say to steer clear of boxed wines, but one B.C. brand is determined to change our perception of this product—and, quite frankly, making incredibly sip-worthy wines in the process.

Launched at a time when more people (present company included) are looking for better value from their purchases AND any excuse to make less trips to the store (we are in the middle of a pandemic, after all), Something About JuJu Fine Wines rejects the idea that boxed wines need to be blends. In fact, JuJu’s expert cellarmasters have travelled to the world’s finest growing regions to source the varietal-specific wines we consumers want most, then boxed them up in a convenient and 100 per cent recycled and recyclable box that allows the wine to stay fresh longer than traditional bottled wines—up to six weeks after opening! Environmentally conscious and delicious? Sign us up!

There are three delish varietals to choose from in the JuJu range: Cabernet Sauvignon from Lodi, California, with rich aromas of plum and black cherry and a punch of blackberry jam ($36 exclusively at BC Liquor Stores); Pinot Grigio from Terre Siciliane IGT, Italy, with aromas of honeysuckle, peach and white grape and a crisp taste ($36 at private liquor stores across B.C.); and Grenache Rose from Pays d’Oc IGP, France, which combines delicate aromas of strawberries and raspberries with floral notes, plus flavours of cherry and white pepper with a grapefruit finish ($36 at private liquor stores across B.C.). Each box contains the equivalent of four bottles of wine. One more time for the people in the back: JuJu Fine Wines overdelivers with incredible value, without compromising on taste.

Ask us to choose a favourite, and we couldn’t; all three JuJu offerings have garnered a place of honour in our own wine cellar (read: our cool, dark pantry) and have definitely made us think inside the box when it comes to wine! —Vita Daily
