4 New Reasons To Love Ferrero Rocher (Win!)

It’s our favourite December treat: that delicious little chocolate and hazelnut morsel that tends to make its appearance when Christmas comes around. Well, now there are four new reasons to love Ferrero Rocher—all year round! Marking a first in the brand’s history, Ferrero Rocher has launched its all-new 90g bars. Available in four flavours, and inspired by Ferrero Rocher’s iconic pralines, the new sophisticated chocolate bars are made of carefully selected ingredients, combining crunchy hazelnut pieces, smooth chocolate, and exquisite creamy fillings into distinctive layers of textures and a unique shape. We chatted with Maureen Romansky, senior marketing director, premium chocolate, for Ferrero North America, to get all the delicious details! —Noa Nichol

Maureen, to start, tell us a bit about yourself.

Of course! I’ve been passionate about marketing and advertising since I interned with an agency just out of university. I’ve been a marketer in the CPG industry for the past 20 years, working across diverse categories and brands. The past 15 years of my career have been with Ferrero Canada, where I’ve found a real home against a backdrop of amazing premium brands and a standout “family” culture. Over the past two years, my role has expanded to cover a total North American perimeter on key brands (including bars), which has been a welcome challenge and a way to bring profile to Canada and its amazing talent pool.

We’ve long wished we could enjoy the fan-favourite, classic gold-wrapped Ferrero Rocher beyond the holidays. Can you tell us why the wait is finally over, with the launch of the all-new Ferrero Rocher bar?

We know that consumers are looking for something special and indulgent for those everyday rewarding or celebratory moments, whether it’s for yourself or to share with someone. We have an iconic, well-recognized and trusted brand, and we’ve had great success in seasonal gifting and sharing items; now it was time to bring the irresistible taste of our Ferrero Rocher pralines in an everyday bar format.  And I’m proud to say that we’ve been able to capture what makes our pralines so unique—layers of taste and textures—into an everyday bar for those who already love us and for those who are looking for something new and indulgent.

What flavours is this new bar available in?

Offering premium taste and textures for everyday moments of indulgence, Ferrero Rocher bars can be enjoyed in four delicious flavours:

• Milk Hazelnut
• Dark Hazelnut
• White Hazelnut
• Dark Hazelnut & Salted Caramel

What inspired each flavour?

Hazelnuts are at the heart of our Ferrero Rocher pralines and our Ferrero history overall, and so of course they had to be at the heart of our bars, too! The bars are made of carefully selected ingredients that combine crunchy hazelnut pieces, smooth chocolate, and exquisite creamy fillings into distinctive layers of textures and a unique shape. Canadians also inspired these flavours, which are popular here, so it was important for us to give Canadians flavours that they love.

What did the process of trialing and crafting them look like?

Ferrero is known for its dedication to true innovation, creating products that are incredibly unique, hard to duplicate, and designed to become part of Canadians’ lives for the long term. We’ve invested significantly in crafting these new bars, with the focus on quality and superior taste that is characteristic of all Ferrero products. In fact, the development of these bars took many years and a team of 50 people with over 300 trialed recipes until we got it just right, offering the perfect balance between taste and texture.

Tell us about the unique shape of these bars!

Just like Ferrero Rocher—we’re unique. Each square of the new bars is crafted to take consumers on a delicious chocolate journey. The gentle dome on top of the square recalls the distinctive shape of our classic Ferrero Rocher and is an invitation to discover the different layers inside: a refined chocolate base supporting a soft and creamy filling, covered with a top layer of chocolate mixed with crunchy pieces of hazelnuts.

Where can we find them?

Ferrero Rocher bars will be sold in the confectionery aisle at major retailers nationally, both in-store and online.  

OK, this is a really tough question, but we need to know: if you were stuck on a desert island and could only take one of these bars with you, which flavour would it be?

How can you choose a favourite out of four unique and amazing flavours? It’s like asking me to pick a favourite child … my official answer would have to be that I’d make room in my pack for all four (luckily, they’re portable). Unofficially, I’d have to say White Hazelnut … this is the first time we’ve featured the Ferrero Rocher hazelnut profile with a white chocolate base, and I have to tell you that it’s a game-changer!
