Just Dance This Holiday Season (Win!)

We chatted with Citron Rose to learn more! —Vita Daily

Tell us about your role in Just Dance 2023

My role in Just Dance 2023 was to create a choreography for the Canadian local map in the game. I was asked to create an original three-minute choreography and it was such a fun and challenging experience! It took many weeks and around 4 to 5 versions to have the choreography ready. it required clearly defined movements in order to meet the technical requirements for a video game like Just Dance, for players to be able to reproduce my dance routine! It’s a different process than creating a choreography for a performance or a videoclip.

How did you get chosen to be featured in Just Dance 2023?

I was approached last year by Ubisoft to create content for the promotion of the 2022 edition of the game. My content showed how family friendly and fun the game is & the team seemed to be very happy with the results: they liked my style of dancing (afrodance), and my playful personality connects well with the game! They approached me again this year with the ambition of taking this collaboration to the next level and I was more than happy to get this chance.

What is your favourite Just Dance song to dance to?

 The song I got to choregraph is Woman by Doja Cat. I already loved this song and actually had it saved on my phone before knowing I would be working on this project with Ubisoft! I also have a special attachment to it now since this experience means a lot to me and taught me so much.

Why do you love playing Just Dance?

I like the fact that it’s an immersive game that allows everyone to let loose no matter their dance level or their age. It allows you to feel good while learning new moves or getting better at the ones you know already to challenge yourself to reach a higher score per example! It’s also a great way to dance to your favorite artist’s songs. As a dance teacher, what I like the most about the game is the opportunity it gives us to share great moments with your loved ones in a light-hearted and fun way!
