Have you got a whole week at home with nowhere to go? If you’re on spring break, your partner or whole family is, it can feel like pressure to fill an entire week with plans. But if you choose to spend the week off at home, it can be a great opportunity to relax, get inspired or do something you’ve always been putting off. With this in mind, we’ve got five staycation recommendations that will help you make use of your time and enjoy it! —Julia Dumbrell
Spa Day at Home: Chances are, now that it’s spring break, you could use some much-needed rest and relaxation. An at-home spa day can be as simple as taking a bubble bath with your favourite products, or breaking out your old polishes and giving yourself a mani-pedi. Go ahead, treat yourself!
Spring Cleaning: You’ll never regret cleaning out the overstuffed drawer that gives you grievances every morning, or refreshing your sheets for new spring linens. Take advantage of having your week off to refresh your space, paying it forward for the rest of the season.
See a Film: Take a look at the films playing at your local cinema for the week and see what sparks your fancy. Perhaps the new Avatar movie caught your eye, or you want to catch a special film event. Bonus points if you pick a movie you’ve never heard of before—this can be a fun adventure that is almost always rewarding!
Take a Class: Spring break is a fun opportunity to get creative. Register for any class that sparks your inspiration, from pottery to cooking or yoga. Taking a class for the day is a great opportunity to get inspired, meet new people and pick up a skill you’ve always wanted to learn.
Go on a Day Trip: If you’re itching for a change of scenery, a day trip doesn’t take much more than getting in the car and driving somewhere. Whether it’s a visit to the mall you’ve always wanted to check out in the next town over, or taking the earliest ferry to the island and last ferry home, this is your sign to be spontaneous and let your Google Maps drive you somewhere new!
