10 Steps To Creating The Perfect Cat Eye

Creating a perfect cat eye can be achieved through a series of steps. Here’s a guide to help you create a flawless cat eye look. —Vita Daily

  1. Prep your eyelids: Start by preparing your eyelids for makeup application. Cleanse your face and apply a thin layer of eyeshadow primer to create a smooth base. This will help your eyeliner and eyeshadow stay in place and prevent smudging.
  2. Choose the right eyeliner: Select a liquid or gel eyeliner with a fine, pointed brush or a pen-style applicator. These types of eyeliners provide precision and control, making it easier to create a sharp cat eye.
  3. Plan the wing: Decide on the shape and length of your wing. The wing should follow the natural angle of your lower lash line, extending outward. Use a small, angled brush or a thin makeup brush handle to visualize the line before applying the eyeliner.
  4. Start with the wing: Begin by drawing a small, angled line from the outer corner of your eye towards the end of your eyebrow. This will serve as the guideline for your wing. The length of the wing can vary depending on your preference and eye shape.
  5. Create the outline: Starting from the inner corner of your eye, draw a line along your upper lash line towards the wing guideline. Keep the line thin and as close to the lashes as possible. Gradually thicken the line as you move towards the outer corner.
  6. Connect the lines: Once you’ve reached the wing guideline, continue the line to meet the tip of the wing. This connection should create a smooth, angled shape. Take your time to ensure the lines are symmetrical on both eyes.
  7. Fill in the shape: After connecting the lines, fill in the space between the wing and the inner corner of your eye. Make sure the color is opaque and consistent along the entire line. If needed, go over any areas that appear uneven or sparse.
  8. Refine and perfect: Use a pointed cotton swab or a small, angled brush dipped in makeup remover to clean up any mistakes or smudges. Sharpen the edges and perfect the wing shape until you achieve the desired cat eye look.
  9. Optional: Add mascara and eyeshadow: Apply a coat or two of mascara to your upper lashes to enhance the cat eye effect. Additionally, you can apply eyeshadow to complement your cat eye look. Neutral shades or a smoky eye can work well depending on the occasion.
  10. Remember, practice makes perfect. Don’t be discouraged if your cat eye doesn’t turn out exactly as you envisioned the first few times. With time and patience, you’ll become more skilled at creating the perfect cat eye.
