Pour This Caramel Sauce On Your Ice Cream

May 27, 2023

Here’s a recipe for a delicious homemade caramel sauce that pairs perfectly with ice cream:

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

  1. In a medium-sized saucepan, heat the granulated sugar over medium heat. Stir continuously with a heat-resistant spatula or wooden spoon until the sugar melts and turns into a golden caramel color. Be careful not to let it burn; reduce the heat if necessary.
  2. Once the sugar has melted completely and turned into caramel, add the butter to the saucepan. Be cautious as the mixture may bubble and splatter. Stir gently until the butter has melted and is fully incorporated with the caramel.
  3. Slowly pour in the heavy cream while stirring continuously. The mixture will bubble again. Continue stirring until the caramel and cream are well combined and smooth.
  4. Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt. The salt helps enhance the caramel flavor.
  5. Let the caramel sauce cool for a few minutes before transferring it to a heatproof container or jar. Allow it to cool completely at room temperature, and then refrigerate until ready to use. The sauce will thicken as it cools.
  6. When serving, you can either warm the caramel sauce slightly by microwaving it for a few seconds or serve it chilled, depending on your preference.

Drizzle this delectable caramel sauce generously over your favorite ice cream flavors, and enjoy the creamy, sweet goodness. It can also be used as a topping for desserts like cakes, brownies, or pancakes. Store any leftover caramel sauce in the refrigerator for up to two weeks. —Vita Daily
