Tell us about yourself and your jewelry brand, Welleree.

I am the founder of Welleree, a jewelry brand based in Vancouver, Canada. Welleree began as a side project in my early 20s but evolved into a decade-long journey of immersing myself in jewelry design, encompassing everything from curating and fabricating to setting and wax carving. This journey ultimately led to Welleree in 2021. In late 2020, I developed health complications after getting COVID-19 that required me to pause and reevaluate what I was doing. This shift in my daily routine meant I could no longer continue my work as a personal trainer. However, within this challenging period, there was a silver lining. Stepping back and slowing down allowed me to rekindle my long-held passion and the idea I had thought for a significant time—the dream of launching my own jewelry business. And so, from that, Welleree was born.

What makes Welleree different from other jewelry brands out there?

Welleree distinguishes itself from other brands through its commitment to timeless styles. I intentionally refrain from closely following fleeting trends, which tend to be transitory and replaced with something new over time. Instead, Welleree provides solid 14k-gold styles characterized by refinement, minimalism, and durability, creating a circular purchasing cycle. With Welleree pieces, customers can experience a lifelong journey with their jewelry, seamlessly transitioning through various stages of life. These pieces can be cherished and passed down as heirlooms. Additionally, because all Welleree pieces are made from solid gold, they have the unique potential to be remelted or recycled, offering the opportunity to transform them into something new.

Welleree’s new fall collection has dropped. Tell us about it and the inspiration behind it.

I took some time off for my maternity leave this summer and stayed in Europe. The month I spent in a small town in south Spain inspired me to lean into my thoughts of a fresh transformation of Welleree as a brand. The fall collection marks the beginning of this new direction, drawing inspiration from the remarkable women I encountered during my time there. The local women I met exuded an effortless charm. Whether it was the subtle elegance of jewelry worn by the older women I shared smiles with at the produce markets or the women casually gathering on the beach for brief, sociable moments with their beach neighbours—individuals I gradually got to know over time. The pervasive influence of “keeping it easy and light” permeated every aspect of their lives. I believe this essence perfectly encapsulates the fresh direction Welleree is embracing with our fall collection.

What is your favourite piece from the new collection?

I love all the pieces, but one that I really gravitate toward is the Astrid Necklace.

We are in the midst of transitional dressing. As we look ahead to fall weather and the holiday season, how can we elevate our fall wardrobes?

Much like the ethos of Welleree, I believe in elevating your wardrobe by selecting high-quality staple pieces that stand the test of time and remain versatile in styling. Again, I am not too focused on trends but consciously creating capsules through classic and adaptable basics that play off one another and won’t feel outdated in a few months, especially in the fall season. You can always add a touch of individuality, romance, or colour through your jewelry, and for myself, I often complete the look with one of my late grandmother’s neck scarves. This combination brings a unique and personal touch that is my favourite.
