Sufganiyot, also known as jelly donuts, are a quintessential Hanukkah treat. Hanukkah is a celebration of the miraculous burning of the Temple oil which is why it has come to be associated with food fried in oil. For Seth Rogen’s favourite jelly donuts, Lee’s is the place to go. You can choose between raspberry, blueberry, or lemon jelly filling at Lee’s. Their most famous location is in the Granville Island Public Market but they have a total of four locations across the Lower Mainland now.
Brekka has your 24 hour donut needs covered, and they also have locations all over Vancouver. Brekka has five different sufganiyot flavours to choose from this season including strawberry, pistachio, and decadent dulce de leche.
Cartems Donuts is serving traditional sufganiyot now until December 15th. Carter’s classic version of the Hanukkah donuts are stuffed with berry jelly and topped with powdered sugar. Pre-orders are open online and the donuts come in a box of six.
Another source for fluffy, delicious, and traditional sufganiyot this Hanukkah season is Solly’s Bagelry. Solly’s has three locations in Vancouver and their donuts are also available on DoorDash.
