With the colder weather upon us, Vancouver independent hairstylist Brandon Chesler of Please Fix Ur Hair offers his top seven do’s and don’ts of caring for your hair and scalp during the dry winter months. —Vita Daily
- Space out shampoos to every second or third day
- Use shampoos or conditioners with a base of either tea tree, eucalyptus, peppermint or rosemary (note: this is not recommended for coloured hair)
- Leave a “small amount” of conditioner in the ends to use as a styling product, or switch to leave in conditioners over winter
- Go easy on hot iron styling tools; stick to hair dryers only
- Use moisture/hydrating hair masks once monthly
- Avoid harsh home colour
- Brush long hair thoroughly once daily to avoid winter tangles
