The YSL Master Class is taking place in the Grand Court at Metropolis at Metrotown on February 8 and 9, with 1.5-hour sessions happening at 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. on each day. Each class will include Yves Saint Laurent beauty demonstrations showcasing skincare, cosmetics and fragrance: how to create the viral Cherry look, how to wardrobe and layer fragrances, and how to customize your perfect YSL skincare concoction. Guests will also enjoy refreshments, including bubble tea from Chatime, delectable pastries and more.

Hosted as a collaboration between Metropolis at Metrotown, Yves Saint Laurent and the Shoppers Drug Mart Beauty Boutique, the classes are free and open to the public, although space is limited to up to 50 guests and advance registration is required online here.

Following the classes, you’ll be invited to visit the Shoppers Drug Mart Beauty Boutique and take advantage of a fabulous spend-and-get incentive: spend up to $200 and receive a gift with purchase plus a $25 gift card to Metropolis at Metrotown!

Lunar New Year At The Met

Lunar New Year festivities are coming to Metropolis at Metrotown! Starting February 9, and running through February 24, 2024, B.C.’s largest shopping centre will usher in the Year of the Dragon with a series of performances, workshops and traditional displays. Here are some of our favourite activities to check out:

  • Marvel at a colourful Lion Dance performance, February 14 (starting at 10am): Convene in the Grand Court for the start of the performance, and follow the lion as it parades throughout Metropolis at Metrotown to bring good luck and prosperity to shoppers and retailers. Did you know? Noisy celebrations—such as dragon and lion dances—chase away the evil monster Nian.
  • Spend $288 or more, and you’ll have an opportunity to visit the cherry blossom tree in the Grand Court and choose a lucky red pocket; inside you’ll find a $25 gift card and a retail voucher, along with a memento celebrating Year of the Dragon! Did you know? Shopping is an important part of Lunar New Year, as people splurge on food and decorations for their celebrations.
  • Give back to increase good fortune for you and others. For every shopper who selects a red pocket from the cherry blossom tree, Metropolis at Metrotown will donate $5 to Angels on Earth Society. The Burnaby-based charity provides culture education to students at no cost. Did you know? People donate old clothing and other items to welcome new opportunities in the new year. It is also customary to be generous with family members and friends by gifting, and to prepare offerings to receive blessings.

With over 330 stores, Skytrain access and free parking, millions of shoppers are attracted to Metropolis at Metrotown annually. Major stores include Cineplex Cinemas, Decathlon, H&M, Hudson’s Bay, Indigo, Old Navy, Real Canadian Superstore, Shoppers Drug Mart, Sport Chek, T&T Supermarket, Toys “R” Us, Uniqlo, Vessi, Walmart, Winners HomeSense, and Zara.
